One of the finest wines of Sardinia, Malvasia di Bosa, produced from grapes grown in the territories of the municipalities of Bosa, Suni, Tinnura, Flussio, Magomadas, Tresnuraghes and Modolo, all included in the Planargia region, in the province of Oristano. Literally, the expression is translated into Italian as "wine that wants to be spoken", that is to say a wine to be tasted slowly, during pleasant conversations, such as those that once marked the habits of Sunday morning and which refers to the social context. culture in which it is inserted, but also a wine that speaks to us and makes us talk. Refinement, gentleness and a profound symbolic value are the characteristics of a product that finds a rich dedicated literature, thanks to experts in the sector, travelers and well-known writers, such as Luigi Veronelli and Mario Soldati.
The history of Malvasia produced in Planargia is long: according to most experts, the grape is native to Greece, in particular to the city of the Peloponnese called Monobasia or Monembasia, and linked to the Venetians who were the first to market it, transplanting the vine to Crete., land that was part of their possessions. The vines from which it was produced were later spread also to other Mediterranean areas. While the introduction of the Malvasia grape in Sardinia dates back to the 5th-6th century AD, immediately after the fall of the Roman Empire, and would have taken place through the landings of Kalaris and Bosa.
Obtained the recognition of the Denomination of Controlled Origin (DOC) "Malvasia di Bosa", by Decree of the President of the Republic, as early as 1972, today there are four types of wine produced in the aforementioned vineyards: Amabile or Dolce, with a straw yellow or golden color more or less intense and with an aromatic odor; Riserva, with a straw yellow or golden color and an intense and complex aroma; Sparkling wine, straw yellow in color with persistent foam and an aromatic and fruity aroma; Passito, with a more or less intense golden yellow color and a broad and characteristic aroma.
